Five Good Things for Friday

I like doing Five Good Things posts, it makes me sit back and really think about some good things that have happened, some obvious, and some I have to think about for a while, which can be nice and rather theraputic. I'm going to try and do these each Friday as then Im more likely to remember to do them...

1. Today I got my third blog award. Its the Versatile Blogger award, which I was awarded originally last week. As Ive already done the post for it from then, I would just like to thank Jill at sugarbeauty for giving me this award. It really does brighten my day, I literally find out Ive got it and tell my boyfriend straight away Im so happy :). I love the blog awards posts I think its a brilliant idea, it makes people feel good, like their stuff is actually appreciated and enjoyed, and it helps spread the word of other good bloggers out there.

2. Getting packages in the post. This will never, ever get old for me. Most the time I'm not in when they arrive so I get home to find it sat waiting for me on the table and I get such a buzz. I found my recent ELF order waiting for me yesterday but one of my products was faulty when I opened it, so Im trying to get that sorted with ELF then Ill do a post.

3. Ego boosts, in any way shape or form, making you feel good about yourself when you need it most. I havent had the easiest few months but in the past week a lot has made me feel a lot better about myself. I had a chat with my college tutor who reassured me that Im well on my way to getting the grades I need for Uni. Teeside Uni have accepted me on the condition I do achieve the grades, and I have got my first 3 blogger awards in the space of a week.

4. Winning contests. I have always been the girl that was unlucky and never won anything, then all of a sudden the beauty blogging world brought luck my way. I entered a contest on Dolly Bow Bow's youtube channel in the summer time, as did hundreds of others and somehow I won that! Then I won Fashion Face's advent contest just after Christmas, which has yet to arrive and Im very excited. Both of these giveaways were absolutely huge as well so Ive bene rather lucky. I dont know if anyone would be interested to see what I got in the Dolly Bow Bow one as there was loads of goodies, just ask! Ill definately be posting about the advent one when it arrives as Im very excited :D.

5. My mam is on a health kick the same time as me. This means no more struggling to find a way to eat healthily, shes cooking good food while I want it too. Everyones a winner.

I was flicking through weheartit and found this kitten and fell in love. Random, but I NEEED it!

TAG: 15 Random Questions

Another sleepless night, too tired to do anything actually productive, but too awake to get to sleep...annoying. Heres a random questions post, I tag you all!

Where do you call home?
My less than desirable home town of South Shields, in the North East of England. When I'm away from the area its normally easier to just say I'm from Newcastle as people tend to know that better. Only ever famous for producing Joe McElderry and for Ocean Road, a long street consisting of about 50 different tae-away shops, all absoluely excellent actually. Its a rather average town really, not too much to do, but I suppose I could live somewhere a lot worse. It can look pretty sometimes, especially the beach...My dad took this photo...

What is your most memorable holiday?
This is tough, my holidays have bene memorable for different reasons. Second place owuld have to be my first holiday with my boyfriend to Salou in Spain. We had a ball, it was just perfect in every single way. But really my most memorable would have to be Florida in 2008 with my Dad and my brother. It was jsut the most amazing few weeks EVER, Im truely in love with the place, being the ultimate Disney nerd that I am. I find myself recalling memories here and there literally most days. Best time ever.

Have you ever owned a pet?
Yep, I had two fish when I was little called Tom and Jerry. Then after YEARS of pleading my parents got me a border collie puppy which I named Ollie. He was gorgeous, and meant to be a real sheepdog, which is why he tried to "herd" my little brother Ben a few times which I found hilarious. However Ben was really timid of him and actually cried a few times, so after about 8 weeks, we had to give him to a better home. He actually went on to a farm to be a working dog, which is what he was made to do, he had it in his blood so Im really glad we did it actually. Now I have my 1 year old cross breed called Molly. We got her from the dog shelter after she had been abandoned as a puppy in the snow up on Cleadon Hills :(. Shes like my little sidekick I am besotted with her.
I miss my little Ollie!
Me mid-sentence with Molly...inseperable
What is your favourite TV show?
Sex and the City, always. Theres a few I have very close to my heart that I have had obsessions with, The OC and The Hills to name but a few, but SATC will always be there time and time again. Im never not in the mood to watch an episode...or 5.

Whats the worst/most embarrassing CD/Album you've ever owned?
Oh no. Probably something really cringeworthy like the Vengaboys. Whats even more cringeworthy is that I managed to sell them on ebay in the summer for £3 each, only my oldest ones that I know I'll never ever listen to....this means someone out there actually really wanted it and searched for it and spent their money on it. But each to their own...

What did you want to be when you were little?
Dont judge me, Im not racist in any way shape or form but for whatever reason, as a very small child I used to say I wanted to be a black nurse, not just a nurse, a black nurse. I know, what?! My mam thinks its becuase I used to sit with her throughout Casualty and Holby City, and a few of my favourite characters, even tohugh I probably didnt understand what was going on, were black female nurses. But moving on, as I got older I jumped between a vet, an optician, a social worker, and settled at teacher, and still do want to be a teacher...stirctly primary school though.

What are you afraid of?
Spiders, moths and horror films. Im no longer scared of wasps since I got stung by one on holiday, its not as bad as I imagined, still hurt though.

What item can't you live without?
My laptop, or any form of internet. I honestly dont know where I would be without it...probably having some form of active life with more excercise.

What is your day job?
A student, I hate saying it as it makes me feel lazy, but its true.
Are you a 'morning' or 'night' person?
Night, I dont do mornings, I stay up far too late.

What is your favourite food?
Pancakes with lemon juice and sugar, mmm.

What is your all time favourite film?
The Lion King. Surely I dont need to explain this one?

If you could visit any place in the world where would it be?
New York! Anyone who knows me wouldl say that straight away. Its just somewhere I dream about, it looks amazing, everything I could want from a city.

What are you most looking forward to in 2011?
Getting settled into Uni life, just generally settling in general, everything is up in the air and all over the place right now, Im looking forward to some kind of routine.

What has been your highlight of 2010?
My utterly relazing holiday with David, it was the most chilled out 10 days of my whole life, I dont think I could have coped with what met me when I got home if I hadnt had that week of nothingness beforehand. (My granda's cancer very quickly took over him in the last week of his life and it was the worst thing ever to witness, I was very much involved in making sure he was comfortable in his final days but all the while it was completely heartbreaking. He died that week, which was five days after I returned from Majorca. I can only say Im glad we stayed for 10 days and not 2 weeks or I couldnt live with myself).
Sorry for the depressing ending to this post everyone, but it was a very big part of my year obviously, and I like to think I can confide things with you as its my little area to vent everything
xoxo

December Favourites

I know Im a bit late with my favourites of the month post, as I wasnt going to do one since I had done a Favourites of 2010 post. But Im bored, and I thought I may aswell! However its late, and I dont have any pictures prepared, so the images will have to come from the wonders of google images.

Barry M Nail Paint in Racing Green.

I found this colour perfect for the festive season. To me, Christmas is Green, Red and Gold. I like to switch up the colours of my nails, I get bored and never paint them the same colour two times in a row. I knew I wanted red nails for Christmas, so for most of December I used this as my festive tribute. I actually went back to this polish over and over again, which is unusual, but I just love the colour of it. Its got a nice shimmer through it as well which I like as its not just a flat green colour. Gorgeous!

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Sugar Plum

Im not sure if this was in my November favourites post, but hey ho! I actually borrowed this from my mam when I found it when trawling through her make-up bag and I fell in love. She said I really suited it, so she just gave me it :).  For a start, it smells and tastes lovely, kind of sweet, which kind of actually does fit with its name nicely. It looks to be a really hard to wear colour in the tube, really deep/bright pinky plum. But this isnt how it goes on. Once applied its a lovely bright, but wearable pinky shade. On me this came out slightly lighter than the "swatch" above, but this may differ from person to person. It stains your lips brilliantly so even when it wears off over time your lips are still the lovely berry stained colour. I might have to invest in more lipsticks from this range soon.

Neutrogena Visibly Clear Oil-Free Moisturiser

When I bought this, I had'nt heard of it before. There had been no rave reviews spurring me on to get it or anything like that, which I normally have when I buy new beauty products. I walked into Boots looking for a new moisturiser, this one looked alright, I trust Neutrogena, so I jsut bought it thinking nothing of it. Now Ive finished the tube, and I can honestly say its amazing. It seems really thick when you squeeze it out and slather it on, but I like that much better than a really thin texture that feels like its done absolutely nothing for you. It really does moisturise, like you would expect, but just, nicer and better than others I've come across. My skin feels good, like its been given a good drink, really healthy and smooth, and I LOOOOOVE it. So much so that my Clinique Dramatically Different takes a back seat in favour of it. That really is saying something from me.

GOSH Natural Blush in Juicy Peach

I've had this blush for nearly a year now, and you can barely tell I've used it, and believe me, I have used it. This is because its so highly pigmented a tiny amount on your brush really does go a long way. You really do have to be careful with this, I've had a few times in the beginning where I looked like a clown, its not hard to make this mistake. This rarely happens now as I'm used to it and know to apply tiny amounts at a time. Its a gorgeous peachy corally colour on the skin and gives you a summer glow. I normally would associate this with summer, as it was my go-to blush for holidays and when I was wearing fake tan. Neither of which has happened at all in December, so Ive suprised myself by using it frequently this month. I dont know why, but it works with pale skin as well as it did with my pathetic attempt of a tan. I like how its not shimmery, like the ELF blush that I use so often, it makes a nice change for me.

Primark 4 in 1 Deep Facial Cleansing Wipes.

Firstly, sorry to the lovely blogger who posted this photo that I found on google images. It is very very lazy of me not to take my own photos, and there were no other pictures on the internet at all of this product. If you're reading this feel free to bollock me. Anyway, a pack of two lke this was £1, and they were conveniently stacked as I awas waiting in the huge queue in primark right beside me. I was low on face wipes so I jsut shoved them in my basket. I expected them to be awful, I generally assume this with Primark and they continue to shock me. For starters, they smell so beautiful, like fruity and fragrant but in a fresh way that you dont mind covering your face in. They dont sting, at all, which I often hate about face wipes, and they generally do their job well. What else can be said about face wipes, jsut the fact that it was £1 for 50, and theyre the best Ive came across, having only tried drug store brands. Pat on the back for Primark, slap across the cheeks for me for taking a bloggers picture.

Soap and Glory Flake Away Body Polish

I realise that everyone already knows about this, but I havew to say this is my favourite body scrub ever ever ever. It is beautiful in every way, and as of yet id my favourite Soap and Glory product. Not a single flake of dry skin ugliness gets past this beauty, and my skin feels slippery smooth when I get out the shower, lush!

The Body Shop Vanilla Spice Shimmer Lip Balm

For most girls, the holy grail product of these bitterly cold months is a good lip balm. I often find that my lips just will never evr not be chapped in winter, which means no lipstick for me :(. It also means I feel the need to constantly keep applying lip balm to try and beat the freeze. Therefore, I want it to look pretty too. This ticks both my boxes, its slightly shimmery so looks like a lip gloss, but it really thick and stays put on your lips for ages even through drinking hot cups of hot chocolate. Apart from that, it smells and tastes devine, but what else would you expect from The Body Shop. My little tub has lasted me about 4 years, and Ive only just hint the bottom. It doesnt even have the same pacaking design as the one pictured its that old. I know its probably well out of date and disgusting but it hasnt changed at all since I got it, and Im not one to waste anything. Yummy Yummy Yummy.

Random Favourites

Good old Holly Willoughbooby

I jsut admire everything about her, shes got class but shes still cheeky and a bit naughty, and shes jsut gorgeous and I love her style. My boyfriend thinks we were separated at birth, he thinks I'm jsut like her, I wish!

Rihanna ft. Drake What's My Name

I've became a little bit obsessed with this song. Apart from the fact I completely idolise Rihanna, its generally rather catchy and I keep singing it ALLLLL the time, its probably very annoying. It reminds me of good times partying in town with my friends around Christmas time, me and Natalie had this dance move going for it, cringeworthy.

Irn Bru

Yes, wierd I know. I forgot how much I loved this and now Im re-addicted like I was in Year 10. Delicioso!

The Snood

What a marvellous invention. Now I dont have to have the tassels of a scarf hanging out the bottom of my coat looking rather odd, or the scarf trailing all down inside my coat making me look twice the size I really am. Amen to the snood.

Right that was a stupidly long post, congrats if you made it this far.

F.O.T.D...First use of new curling wand

Today I tried out my Babyliss Curling Wand, which I got for Christmas. Im no stranger to hair curlers and such so I was expecting this just to make my life a whole lot easier, rather than using the Angel Curls curler Ive had since I was 12. So anyway I just got it out and got on with it, with day old hair, I didnt section it or anything which I suppose I should of. I just picked out bits of hair randomly until I had done my whole head, and for a first attempt I dont think I did to bad. Bearing in mind these pictures were taken after I had done my hair, been to the shops and then came home...

My rather chunky jumper makes me seem like a whale, Im not I promise.

Say Hi to my little Harrods Christmas bear peeking in the corner!

Belated Christmas Gifts: Clothes etc

This is my second Christmas gifts post. When I read over my last one I realised I forgot to put in a picture of the fragrances I got, so they were; Alien by Theirry Mugler and Ghost Sweetheart. I also got a huge bottle fo Lush's Snow Fairy which Im excited to use. I also got two Yankee Candles in Christmas Treats (my favourite) and Christmas magic which Im currently burning. Anyway on with my other stuff...

I was lucky in the book department, I will be reading forever! Alan Sugars autobiography may seem odd, but I think hes amazing, wierd as this may be haha my friends think Im mad.

This photo turned out a bit crap, I probably should have tried them on to show you. Apologies for my boyfriends scruffy unmade bed, I probably should have made the effort. The purple velvet dress is from Miss Selfridge, and it was in a lust list I did just before Christmas, my boyfriend told me to go out and get it as one of my Christmas presents :D. I also chose the shirt myself from Primark for £14, and I absolutely love it. To me it looks more Topshop than Primark and it goes with anything, I wore it with leggins one day and then with velvet shorts for a night out as well.

Another unflattering photo, it looks much better on! I picked both of these out myself, the coat is from Toshop for £80 and I absoltuely love it! I pair it with this snood which I thought was a bargain at £4 in Primark. I feel so cosy in this coat, much better than my old one.

Again I picked these out for myself, my family are a bit scared of suprising me clothing wise for whatever reason, Ive never complained about anything Ive been given in the past. So I got these gorgeous boots from River Island for £45, Im in love with them and Im wearing them practically every day. The bag is from ASOS and was £12, it compliments my shoes nicely I think.

Lastly I got these pairs of shoes as a suprise. Theyre both from Miss Selfridge and I love them both, the heels are rather hard to walk in but as if thats ever bothered me!

The End!

Belated Christmas Gifts: Beauty

Right so I know Christmas was now nearly a few weeks ago, and everyone else posted their presents on Boxing Day and such, but Im far too lazy, and forgot to take photos. So I had a little time on my hands earlier on and decided to pull out everything, or nearly everything that I got from good old Santa. Im doing it in two parts, this is the beatuy related stuff and the others just random things. Really sorry about the picture quality I used my phone as my camera lead is still missing, and some of the photos came out a bit blurry. All of my gifts were either from my family or my boyfriend...

Some of the lovely things I was lucky enough to get at Christmas

Sex and the City Gift set, with the gold clutch, atomiser, compact mirror and the lipgloss. Suprisngly the lipgloss is gorgeous, its more clear than you would expect and it isnt sticky at all. He also got me the gold Sex and the City compact mirror as I had asked for it, its gorgeous. The mini OPI nail polishes were in he Burlesque Mini Tasters set and theyre gorgeous! Theres another reddish one but I cant find it. I was suprised to get the Barry M nail paints in Mushroom and Grey, Ive wanted these colours for a while but hadnt mentioned it, my Mam is a mind reader.

I was in need of a new foundation and my Nana gave me the money to go find one, I didnt want to take advantage so I didnt go highend, but the healthy mix one is beautiful anyway. Ive had my eye on the eyeko graffiti liner and the big eyes mascara for ages, and I picked them up and gave them to my Dad to put away for me. Also I got the Barry M crayon in this pretty pearly cream shade which Ive been using on my inner corner. I love the Carrie make-up palette as well, it contain four eyeshadows and a lip colour.

I got the Andrew Barton blondes giftset containing hair grips, a comb, a nourishing hair mask which Ive used, and shampoo and conditioner. I also got the Lush Christmas Star set containing six bath ballistics which are Lil Lush Pud, Cinders, Winter Bath, So White, Butterball, and Mrs Whippy. I also got the Christmas Allsorts set with three bath ballistics but Ive used them all up!

I recieved the two Soap and Glory gift sets you see above which are amazing. You can see what was in them on the pictures but if you would like any more detail on a particular item just leave a comment.

I asked for this off my auntie, the Babyliss curling wand. Ive yet to use it though, I may do a review or tutorial on it when I do.

I was so excited to get this! The box contains Coralista, Dandelion and what I believe to be Dallas. I was suprised to recieve anything from benefit as Ive never mentioned it to my family. Im suspecting my boyfriend has been acting as a spy for gift ideas. Its great for travelling and all of the powders go well with ym skintone, I just love it.

I picked these out with my Mam jsut before Christmas so I was excited knowing I had these to open on Christmas morning. Top to bottom - Plushglass in Big Baby, Lipsticks in Shy Girl and Bombshell. I also got an eyeshadow in Satin Taupe. Ive been using them constantly since I got them.

Thats it for my beauty post. I'll get on with my other one and get it up as soon as I can

Much Love

Ins and Outs

In...

-Having loads of new products to try out from Christmas, slowly working my way through the Soap and Glory Big Pink set, and Im completely in love with my OPI and MAC items...maybe I should do a post on them.
Pink-big-1024x1024_large

-Getting back to real life after the festivities. Im not really a scrooge, just I kind of breathe a sigh of relief once its gone, it messes with my body and I havnt a clue what day it is or anything. Time to sort my life out!

Tumblr_le3hghzrmc1qb1jiho1_500_large

-New Year bringing more motivation than ever to get a new job and get stuck into my coursework, just sort everything out to how I need it to be.

-Going away for New Year, definately beats staying here and going to some house party where I probably dont even know or like most of the people there. A nice private New Years celebrated overlooking Lake Windermere with a stiff drink and a fireworks display was just gorgeous, Ill never forget it.

-Buying Sex and the City 2 today saying as I didnt get it for Christmas, excited to watch it later, I seen it five times when it was in the cinema.
Sex_and_the_city_2_12-535x356_large

-No snow has fallen for a while, yey!

Out...

-My boyfriend getting loads of x box games for Christmas, Ive lost him to Call of Duty, and the bedroom constantly sounds like a war zone.

Tumblr_lclyclq7k01qbni7io1_500_large

-Being a million years behind with coursework as I was off college ill for 2 weeks before Christmas, I'll pay the price when I go back tomorrow and have so much catching up to do.

-Taking down the Christmas tree, always makes me feel slightly sad.

-Christmas mess everywhere, presents you cant find a home for and loads of selection boxes lying around. It messes with my OCD tidy mind.

-My boyfriend Cineworld Unlimited card running out and I still have mine. I no longer have anyone to go and see an unlimited amount of films with, boo.

-I just want it to be spring now that Christmas is over with, I cant jusitfy the cold weather anymore, its only acceptable for a white christmas.

MAC Champale Collection

Ive read loads about this collection, watched a fair few videos and seen loads of swatches. Its fair to say I wish I had kept my Christmas money so I could buy literally everything in this collection. Theres many beauty bloggers around showing swatches, which sadly I cannot do, and talking about the products and reviewing them, so I wont bore you by jumping on the bandwagon.

My main reason for this post is to ask if anyone knows when this collection comes out in the UK? It came out on Boxing Day in the U.S, but nowhere seems to be able to tell me when I can get it in England. Its not on sale on the website yet either...hmm.

I jsut dont want to miss out on some of these gorgeous looking products and would hate for the launch date to pass by and the good stuff to be gone instantly witohut me knowing about it. Everything in the collection has this sort of heavenly glow about it, pearly, goldy, or metallic and a mixture of them all. Just gorgeous.

In particular my wishlist consists of:

Eye Kohl in I Get No Kick
Paint Pot in Vintage Selection
Lip Gelee in Bubble Lounge
Special Reserve Highlight Powder in Chez Chez Lame
Nail Laquer in Soiree

We shall see how successful I am in getting my mitts on these in the near future!
If anyone has any dates that would be grand

My First Blog Award!!...The Versatile Blogger

So the story goes that Ive just got back from my beautiful New Years get away with my boyfriend and I log into my blog. I read the first post that I find which is this kind of blog awards tag, and at the very bottom, the award has been passed on to a number of people, including me! I was suprised to say the least, what a fabulous start to 2011!
So thankyou millions to Lauren at communicatingbeauty! Her blog is amazing, I read every one of her posts so this award kind of felt like an honour to recieve it. Everyone should go and follow her blog shes fab!

The point of this blog award is to tell your readers a bit about yourself. I think I already ramble on far too much about myself and random life stories rather than acutal beauty products and such but ehre we go...

The "Rules":
1. Thank and link back to who gave you the award
2. Share 7 things about yourself
3. Pass it along to 7 blog you've recently discovered and enjoy
4. Leave your recipient a note, telling them about the award

7 Things about myself:
- I am obsessed with crafts. Making and creating things is what I love to do, even if I rarely have time to do it. Mainly baking and cooking as this seems to fit around everything else I have to do the easiest, and can normally be done with whatever I have in the cupboard. One day I want my own little bakery and make beautful cakes and decorate wedding cakes and such like. Sounds like a dream to me.
- I have applied to study busines studies at five of my most local universities, jsut waiting to see if I get in now, eeek!
- I live with my boyfriend with his mam, stepdad and little brother, I keep a lot of my stuff at my nanas house as there isnt enough room for my mountains of rubbish in his place. My mams new place only has one bedroom, and my dad has jsut moved out of his tiny flat into a huge run-down victorian townhouse, which we are going to decrate beautifully and Im gonig to move in there.

- I don't have a job right now, which can be difficult considering my obsession with buying anything and everything. My last job as in a sunbed shop, but my boss was evil and refused to even pay me minimum wage, totally not on, so I left after I got completely sick of him.
- I love to travel as much as I can. Although Ive noyl been to Florida once, America is my favourite place, and I want to travel there as much as I can. In recent years Ive done a lot of travelling with my boyfriend such as The Lake District, Edinbrough London, Spain twice, Gran Canaria and Majorca. Hes more obsessed with holidays than I am.
- I have a rather large extended family. I kind of count my boyfriends family as my own now, so In total I have about 4 "mothers" and "fathers" and 6 "siblings" haha. I do love it though, I would  spend all my time with them if I could theyre all great company.
- I eat far too many "Large Chicken Nugget meals" from McDonalds. Like I mean wayyyy too many. But never mind!

10 Questions:
1. Why did you create this blog?
Around april last year I bought a bottle of St Moriz...having not venutred far into false tan before I searched for it on youtube and cameacross swalermakeup's tutorial on it. I was intrigued, and ended up spending the rest of the day watching all of her videos. From there I jsut loved the beauty community of youtube. I tried once of twice filming a video but just hated how I looked and sounded, the whole thing seemed rubbish. Bu I then found blogging, and I jsut knew it was my forte. Ive always loved to wrte and ramble on, and its jsut perfect for me to let out all my ramblings on here. Whether anyone reads it is another story, but I dont really mind!
