Tag: My Beauty Story

Ive read this on a few different blogs and thought I'd give it a go as yet again I can't get to sleep on an evening where I really should have an early night as theres a busy day ahead tomorrow...on with the post.

1. How old were you when you first started wearing makeup?
I was pretty much a late bloomer where make-up is concerned. I used to get the little girls make-up sets to play about with and didnt really bother with anything apart from nail varnish. I liked to muck about with my mams make-up bag but never really got into it until I was around 15. Even then it was a bit of eyeliner, mascara and lipgloss and I was done. In year 11 I started wearing a light foundation to school along with mascara and eyeliner and eyeshadow if I went anywhere "special". Once I left school I really started wearing full make-up a lot, and it was about a year ago when I had jsut turned 18 when I really got into trying different brands and different kinds of make-up.

2. How did you get into makeup?

Its kind of sad and annoying, but I suppose its the same for most girls. Really jsut because thats what I thought women do and thats what I should then do. Also once I tried a bit of it I liked how it made me look compared to without it, so it just contnued from there.

3. What are your favourite brands?
My favourite is MAC, its good quality but desnt come with a HUGE designer price tag. Drugstore brands I use a lot are Maxfactor and Rimmel.

4. What does makeup mean to you?

Like a lot of girls, it makes me feel much more confident. This doesnt mean I need full make-up all of the time, a coat of mascara and a sweep of eyeliner and that can be ok. My eyelashes are naturally quite light so I can look slightly strange completely make-up free.

5. If you could only wear 4 products on your face what would they be?
Mascara, eyeliner, foundation, and blusher. :) Easy

6. What is your favourite thing about makeup?

How it can transform how you feel about yourself. I can feel in a crappy mood with myself, then I can jsut take a shower, do my hair and make-up and feel tons better about everything.

7. What do you think of drugstore makeup vs high end?

I think it varies. Normally I live by the phrase "you get what you pay for", but really I don't believe this is always the case. For the likes of foundations and concealers I think you have to go high end for anything really decent, but mascaras, and nail varnishes can be just as good from drugstores, such as Barry M polishes.

8. What is one tip of advice you would give to a beginner?

Take it one step at a time so you can get used to it. You dont want to be totally bare faced one day then caked in make-up the next, itll just look wierd, like an overnight change of personality. Plus if you just start using every product under the sun all at once you probably wont learn how to use each of them too well as you have so much to think about. Get something like your mascara and eyeliner right first, then find a foundation that suits you or something.

9. What is one makeup trend you never understood?

False tanned face with concealer on the lips. Just why?

10. What do you think of the beauty blogging community?
I love it. Its so good to be able to read and share genuine opinions from normal girls rather than just promotional material from companies or celebrities paid to say a product works.
